Sterco brings the most versatile
and reliable voltage controls with an advanced range of auto variable
transformers. These transformers are widely used in many industries and
laboratories to control voltage, current, power, heat, speed, light and
electromechanical forces. Auto variable transformers use common windings
and offer no interference or disturbance isolation.
Basically variable voltage transformers comprises of a single layer,
magnet wire winding on a toroidal core of laminated silicon steel. A
carbon brush, connected to an output lead, is rotated over a precision
ground, plated commutator track 10 tap off voltage at any turn from zero
to the maximum output voltage of the winding.

Features:
» Efficiency & Distortion Less Voltage Control
Sterco variable transformers has efficiency as high as 98 percent. The
unique design of the system ensures minimal loss of power as compared to
inefficient, wattage-burning resistive-type controllers such as
rheostats. It delivers option for different voltage rating with
negligible variation in output voltage from no-load to full-load
current. Sterco variable transformers produce an accurate transfer of
input wave to output circuit, providing distortion less voltage control.
» Plated Commutator Surface
The special plating of metal on the coil at every layer provides the
commuter longer life, increased resistance to corrosion and the capacity
to withstand greater overloads (while maintaining a constant contact
voltage drop).
» Longer Life & Minimum Maintenance
The unique design assembly of the brush provides excellent mechanical
performance, long life and low-driving torque. Brush can easily
replaced, although seldom required. Due to high safety margins of
voltage, current-carrying capacity and dielectric strength, Sterco
variable transformers have a longer service life.
